Does anyone have expertise in dog health? I’m very concerned about my dog. Something weird has happened in her behaviour in the past 24 hours. It was ever since my mom put her out to do her business early this morning (ie: around 2am).

When she came back downstairs she kept going back and forth from her bed to the computer room, then she sighed and was just going crazy like she didn’t know where to go. She wouldn’t stay still in my room either. Finally she did and I was able to get a few hours of sleep.

Then this morning, I noticed she won’t sit down. I thought something was wrong as in her nails were too long or something, so I got my mom to cut some. But still, the entire day she won’t sit on her butt. She’ll lie down but not sit even if we are offering her food. It seems she tries and then gets up fast.

My sister was looking at her while my dog was standing on the kitchen chair (normally she would sit). She noticed that her…I think it’s called vulva…anyways, her “cooch” and noticed it didn’t look normal. It’s pinkish and has like brown spots that are nearly black. I know her “cooch” had different colours because of her skin, but it really does look weird. I would take a picture, but she won’t stay still to let me.

I still can’t find anything on web that could be the problem so I guess I’ll just have to see if the vet is opened tomorrow. I hope it’s nothing serious.

She had a rough date? Kidding.

Seriously now. Sometimes when dogs copulate, the girl dog is the one that suffers because of the contact. It may be infected, that’s why it’s painful.

I don’t think that’s it because as far as I know, my dog is a virgin.

Unless there was somehow a lose male dog in my backyard who forced himself on her, which I highly doubt because my backyard is surrounded by a wood fence high enough that dogs can’t jump over it.

It does sound like it might be an infection. Is it swollen too or just red? Sounds like a trip to the vet might be in order.

I agree with Jill, going to the vet would be the best idea…

She’s doing slightly better today. Last night she didn’t keep me up at all. That was due to the fact that I rolled a computer chair to my bedroom and placed the doggy steps so she can climb up on it. I noticed she sleeps peacefully when on it, so that’s why I tried it out. And yes…she slept through the night.

This morning when I was starting to make breakfast (she follows because she eats breakfast with me), I noticed she was sitting on the carpet in the living room all my herself. I didn’t tell her to sit. I just happened to go over to the living room and there she was sitting down like nothing was wrong.

Yes, I was shocked. She seems to be sitting okay now but I will continue to check throughout the day and monitor her behaviour.
