Like I mentioned awhile ago, I was planning on canceling my internet service provider (Bell Sympatico) because it’s so shitty and I’ve been having nothing but problems. Well, it’ll be official on August 3rd. In the meantime, I have the cable guy coming tomorrow to install high speed cable internet. Hopefully now I won’t have problems with my phone as I did with Bell.

Bell Sympatico is too messed up for words. Sometimes it works and than other times I come across a weird problem. The problem is that it won’t connect and I have to literally take my phone off the hook for the internet speed to pickup and work. Now, why on earth does the phone off the hook affect my internet connection? I have no clue. I am paying for high speed to have my phone AVAILABLE (meaning, on the line and not off the hook). Beats me what the hell the problem was but it was occurring way too many times. Plus, the high speed isn’t even high speed as I can see just through my download speeds.

I’m really happy about getting the cable tomorrow. Hopefully the installation will go smoothly.

    Tina, your connection depends on all the phones in your house having the DSL filter on each of them. If your phone(s) doesn’t have one of these installed ,it interrupts the internet connection. Please remember that there’s more going on than what you might think.

  2. Yes! I totally agree with you. Their customer support is also the worst. They can’t fix a problem until you call to cancel your subscription. Also if your internet is slow don’t buy the “your phone cables can’t handle it”. After about a week of complaining my internet went from 180 Kb/s to 420 Kb/s. I thought i couldn’t handle that much speed…?

    I work for bell but agree with what has been said. Sympatico is the crappiest ISP i have ever come across. The customer support is a joke. No matter what they say, they can’t help. I have wasted 3 hours each month, trying to get a billing issue sorted and you get push around. I get staff discounts but this means nothing……If you complain to sympatico and get through to the general managers office, they’ll buy you with $10 off the standard fee each month. Even this is not worth the hassle…..So Rogers here I come

    First of all dave, having a filter on your phone wont decrease the speed of your internet connection, it would probably cut the connection thats.

    Second, yes Bell is crap, worst customer servive indeed. Indian helpdesk people paid 4 dollars an hour giving 1 dollar an hour service type

    That is what I was referring to. If you dont have a filter it will cut the connection. You read my stuff incorrectly.
