I’m so excited that I found a hard drive I wanted on sale at FutureShop.ca (which is my favourite store lmao). It’s a Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External Hard Drive. It retails at $339.99 but is on sale for only $199.99 this week!

The hard drive my computer came with is only 80GB (more like 74.5GB). It’s almost completely full because of the photos, scrapbooking kits, music, movies, games, and other stuff I have on it. I only have about 15GB left which is practically nothing since I download things everyday.

I’m so looking forward to going out and buying it probably today. I can’t wait as it’ll be my first external hard drive. Woot! Plus, 500GB is a lot of space for me. I saw a 1TB hard drive at a different store and couldn’t believe they made a hard drive to hold THAT MUCH! That’s insane and costs about $500. Oh well…the 500GB for only $199.99 will suffice to my needs.

Usually an inbuilt computer backup service is sufficient for the purpose of recovering data. However, an online backup is the best solution today. Not all hosting services offer the feature of backup hosting or hard drive recovery. Such information should be researched on, because the incidence of online file sharing is only going to increase, resulting in more importance being associated with recovery softwares.

Too funny, as I was also excited to see the flyer this week, because I wanted to buy an external hard drive too! Not that ginormous one you’re coveting, but a smaller 200GB one. Mostly for CYA purposes, as I work with a laptop, & I’m always paranoid about it crapping out or something bad happening to it.
Off I go to the store!

Hey!!! I have exactly that hard drive!!! Only, mine is jst 250GB. I bought it back in February for about $110 so this 500GB is definitely a bargain!!!

I want a new one now!

Can anyone give me feedback regarding Seagate? My husband and I got one basically for storing our daughter’s photos. Is it a good, reliable brand?

I’ve had mine since I posted about this article which was back in 2007. It’s now 2011, so 4 years later… my Seagate hard drive has been wonderful and has yet to fail on me.

    Thanks, Tina! *whew!*

I only felt the need for a hard drive when I started my own Project 365 last year. It got me so much into photography that I ended up taking lessons and clicking away at almost any interesting thing I see!
