October 21st, 2007Sit back and relax

People are more stressed out now than any other time in history. They are consumed with their careers, families, and financial burdens. But don’t let that get in the way of you getting a chance to relax.

Why not get a massage? They work wonders and will help you sit back and relax for once. You can watch this Swedish Massage Video that is embedded in this post. It’s an award-winning video where you learn everything such as body mechanics, preparing your workspace, and the essentials of a full-body massage.

Take at look at it!

October 19th, 2007Circle of friends

Being a woman, I often find myself chatting with friends about guys, pms, progesterone, weight loss, menopause, gossip, shopping, family, and a bunch of other things in between.

It makes me laugh sometimes since our ages range from 20-25. We talk about a lot of issues that groups of women over 30 would be talking about. Sometimes I even catch a topic and stop to ask, “Why are we talking about this?” We all laugh it off because no one really has an answer.

When you have a group of friends, you’ll end up talking about a lot of things. It’s always nice getting together and I look forward to seeing them every week.

October 19th, 2007No quick fix for obesity

As obesity keeps on rising worldwide, more and more companies are trying to create the “magic pill” or even a diet patch. I’m not sure how these things really work, but I doubt they will have long lasting results.

The only way that seems to be effective is by plain old exercising regularly and eating right. What happened with keeping all the organic things? Now it’s constantly fast food, fried foods, and basically junk food that people are getting their hands on. Eek!! Not healthy at all!!

I remember being a kid and going to the vending machines at school. Guess what was in them? Chips, chocolate, and pop. Why don’t they get some healthy snacks in the schools so we don’t see the rise of obesity in children? It’s disturbing to see all these children in the mall that are extremely overweight and unhealthy.

Clearly something is going wrong. What’s the wrong? That we tend to go for fast finger foods which are mostly fatty and unhealthy. *sigh* Wouldn’t it be nice to see a fast food joint that was completely healthy? …serving yogurt, low fat veggie burgers, crackers, and other yummy healthy foods.

Sadly, I have yet to come across any such place. Wouldn’t it be nice though? I think so.

In today’s society, more and more people are trying to make AIDS more aware. Did you know that there are people who will just sleep with anyone unprotected? I have met a few in my life and I still can’t believe they would take the risk of getting an STD or even AIDS.

Thankfully, we are seeing more and more promotions to make a greater awareness of the impact AIDS makes. Just look at what IndieMV has done. They have partnered up with UNICEF to spread the awareness about how AIDS impacts the lives of children worldwide.

They have a youth video contest going on that provides video clips, images, and music tracks so that contestants can edit and put their own personal statement about the impact of AIDS. This is great since everyone is impacted differently. Some more than others.

By participating in this contest, you could win some great prizes. Some of them include:

  • iPods
  • Cash prizes
  • Nintendo Wii’s
  • Best Buy gift certificates
  • Trip to a concert in Montreal
  • and much more!!

What better way to win a prize that participating in a contest with a great cause. Check out IndieMV - Music+People today for more information.

October 15th, 2007The day is coming up soon!!

Time is flying by really quickly. Just next month I will finally become an aunt! I can’t wait!!

My sister is still covered under my dad’s medical insurance. They cover a semi-private room in the hospital. For only $20 more, she can up that room to a private room which is exactly what she wants to do. I would too. Come on…it’s only $20 more. LMAO!!

It’ll be nice to have a private room for family and friends to gather around. Plus her room will have a couch, tv mount, bathroom, and other cool things that she gets included.

I seriously can’t wait!! This will be the first grandchild for my parents and my first nephew!! I’m so excited!! November 21st is my sister’s due date. I can’t wait for the coming weeks.

October 6th, 2007I am not my hair…

It’s just like any other morning. You take a shower, get dressed, then go to the mirror. You grab the brush and are just about to brush your hair when you pause. You forgot that you no longer have any hair.

This has been the case for so many women worldwide. It’s not only affecting men anymore. Approximately 40% of American hair loss sufferers are in fact women. How would you deal with this sudden loss? It would be very devastating to any women who takes pride in her appearance. But don’t worry. You are not alone.

There is a Womens Hair Loss Blog that is managed by a woman who has been on this journey with hair loss since a very young age. She is sharing her story to the world through her blog. You can also find lots of information, tips, and even links to support groups.

As mentioned in one of her posts, the song by India Arie (who is one of my personal favourite artists), released a song called “I Am Not My Hair”. Here is a direct quote from the song:

“I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am a soul that lives within”

Thankfully others, like music artists, have recognized the nature of this uncontrolled disease and are informing themselves about it. Through blogs like this one, you will find the information you seek. Visit the Women’s Hair Loss Project today.

October 1st, 2007Looking for a new dentist?

How often do you visit your dentist? Once a year? Twice a year? Once a month? I personally visit mine at least twice a year unless something seriously goes wrong with my teeth (ie: cavity that needs to be fixed, awful wisdom teeth getting in the way, etc). I wonder how many times the average person visits their dentist.

Dentists are important. After all, you don’t want your teeth turning black or falling out by the time your 30 years old. It’s an essential checkup you should get done regularly. If you live in the South Florida area, there are many dentists you can visit or get to become a regular.

This South Florida Dentist allows you to sleep through your dental work. If you’re afraid of handling the pain of doing work in your mouth, then that option may be beneficial to you.

There are other things you can get done here such as:

  • root canals
  • restorations
  • dentures/partials
  • periodontal (gum) therapy
  • and much more!!

If you’re a new patient, you can easily fill out an information form and bring it with you on your first visit. You can find the form on the website and print it off easily. You’ll even get to meet your dentist and get to know them a bit more before any treatment.

So no need to be nervous as I’m sure they are a friendly bunch!
