January 16th, 2008Q: How do I manage it all?

I always get emails or comments about how can I manage so many blogs, maintain a real job, have family time, and have time for myself. The answer is rather simple. Get organized!

  1. Get an organizer/agenda: This will probably be your best friend. You can keep track of days you work, family events, appointments, and keep a blogging schedule so you can blog on certain days. That’s what I do. I usually keep this info in my phone calendar because it’s much easier for me to see when I’m on the go, but even a pocket calendar can do the job.
  2. Remove the clutter: In part with being organized, you must maintain a clean environment around you. How else are you suppose to find notes that you made if your desk is one big pile of crap? See my point.
  3. Use a notepad: Get a nice notepad where you can jot down ideas, websites, things to do, etc. You can even rip out pages and stick it on your screen for things you need to remember.
  4. Plan your day effectively: Try to do the hard things first so they can get out of the way as soon as possible. Also, look to see what time you can unwind. Everyone needs to rest. Power nap throughout the day if you have to. It’s always great!!
  5. Don’t forget to eat: Keep some healthy snacks with you at all times. How else are you suppose to keep your energy flowing throughout the day.
  6. Don’t stress: Yup…don’t stress over the small things. It’s not worth your time, energy, or getting your emotions worked up. Go with the flow.
  7. Have fun: You have to like what your doing and have fun. If you’re just too serious, you are never going to go places. Take a deep breath and relax. Enjoy your day!

I few years ago, I had no clue what I wanted to do it life in terms of a career. I was working on getting my early childhood education diploma, but I knew that’s not what I wanted to do in the long run.

Some of my classes were in a certain section of my school where there are all sorts of night classes. Half the time the doors to these rooms where opened and I got to see what people were doing.

Some of what I saw actually intrigued me. There were classes for interior design and flower arrangement. These classes look amazing to be and the my school provided things like wholesale flowers and other materials.

I can honestly say that I even thought about attending those classes. That is…unless I found my true passion which is photography. But who knows, I might try those classes out in the future because they looked like so much fun!!

January 10th, 2008Find your true happiness!

Have you ever just stood at the corner of a busy intersection and watched everyone around? I have and the results are all too common.

What I see all the time is that everyone is so concerned about where they have to be and what they have to do. They seem frizzled and often very angry when they hit a red light. It’s not the end of the world if you just have to wait a few minutes for the light to turn green…

Most of the people I have encountered seem very angry over something no matter what time of the day.happyfornoreasonbook.jpg Haven’t these people learned the secret of true happiness? I guess not which is why they need to check out this new book called “Happy For No Reason” by Marci Shimoff.

Marci Shimoff is a featured teacher from the huge bookseller “The Secret”. She talks about something called The Sedona Method which is a great technique that allows you to let go of negative thoughts or feelings. This is exactly what the people I have encountered need.

What is The Sedona Method?

According to this article found on Wikipedia:

The Sedona Method is a self-help technique developed by the late engineer/physicist/businessman Lester Levenson after a serious heart attack nearly ended his life. Lester regained his health and attributed his renewed positive outlook to a process of self-inquiry of one’s beliefs and related emotions.

The process is designed to examine any emotion that one is experiencing and then “let it go” or release it in the moment. The basic premise is that all emotions naturally come and go out of experience unless one resists them. The idea is supported in the writings of Carl Jung who noted, “What we resist persists.”

Do you understand it yet? If not read Marci Shimoff’s new book “Happy For No Reason“. I can honestly say that’s this book was already on my list to read for next month. Any method that promotes techniques in which you can learn to master happiness and seek the positives in life, then I’d definitely pick it up. There’s too many pissed off people in this world. Lighten up folks and find your true happiness!

December 13th, 2007Meh kinda day…

It’s been a crappy kind of day today. I had to wake up early to get ready for my exams. I went to school but ended up not going to the exams. *smacks self in head* … I got preoccupied with well…some things lol… Anyways, I had to pick up my sister and my nephew afterwards. Man was he a crybaby the whole ride home. It was really frustrating too. Did I mention it was snowing badly today? Ya, so that wasn’t a nice combo.

I cleaned up a lot of shit in my room today. There’s still so much other junk that needs to be thrown out. I just haven’t had a chance to check everything. My room is literally a disaster because my parents don’t want me putting my already bought & wrapped gifts under the tree. Why? Because they are so concerned for when company comes over. I still don’t get their reasoning but all my gifts are in my room blocking my way of getting to my dresser. It’s a real nightmare in there!!

December 11th, 2007Eeek…exam

Damn…I just remembered that I have an exam tomorrow afternoon. I’m really not looking forward to it because I have Ebay auctions that end around that time and of course I want to win those auctions. Ughh…can you tell how much I hate school right now?? I can’t wait for this week to be over with. I have some exams but I’m only going to a selected few. The rest I could care less about because I just never attended those classes to begin with.

In other news, I went Christmas shopping today. I’m nearly done too. I just have to get another gift or two for my father and then that’s it!! I can’t wait to be done with all of this. I went to Walmart thinking I could snag some awesome deals on certain items that were on sale, but no…of course not. They were all sold out. To be quite honest, I think flyers are bullshit sometimes. Why? I mean…the flyer JUST came out and the lady tells me that they are all sold out!! Give me a break…I smell a fib.

So ya…what I ended up getting my dad was this huge table where you play soccer. It’s a foosball table. They had a soccer one and an air hockey one. I got the soccer one. This thing is gigantic too and I have yet to wrap it up. Thankfully I put it in a closet my dad never checks. LOL! I have to wrap it up tomorrow morning. But geeze…it’s going to be a lot of wrapping paper!! Hahaha

December 9th, 2007It’s a *blah* life

This weekend has been way too short. I feel like I have a million and one things to still do. In reality, I don’t really have all that much to do besides finish off my Christmas shopping. It’s just a feeling I can’t shake off. Not to mention my lack of blogging these past few days.

This entire weekend was just spent watching movies and sleeping. I haven’t had a great weekend like this in a long time. I’m in the Christmas mood right now which is why I was watching The Santa Claus & The Santa Claus 2. I’m currently bidding on Ebay for The Santa Claus 3 and hopefully I’ll win that so I can watch it too.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of exams week. I have a few exams that are scattered throughout the entire week. I’m not sure if I’ll go or not because like I said before, I’m dropping out of the program so it doesn’t matter if I pass or not. So I might go to some but not others. I’ll have to see how I’m feeling.

I still can’t figure out what to get my father for Christmas…ANY IDEAS??? I am desperate. He doesn’t really have a list because whenever he needs something, he just buys it himself. He also doesn’t like an corny or gifts he’ll never use. Ughh…it’s a nightmare shopping for him. I’ve been looking at flyers, looking online, and asking people. I STILL can’t find him a perfect gift.

So, please…any suggestions are welcomed. What are you guys/gals getting your father, grandfather, husband, or any other older male in your life????
