December 21st, 2007Job Offer - Shot Gun With Driver???
I’m currently looking for employment. I’m in no rush but I’m keeping my options open. I was reading this one job description, and this is honestly what it said.
Needs to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, read a map. Riding shot gun with driver to deliver products to the customers. You need a car because it is not bus accessible. Pay rate is $10/hour.
Ya…that part freaked me out a bit until I found out that it means sitting next to the driver. But geeze…my initial thought was that this was some sort of mob job or something and there was a shotgun present in the car. LOL!
Anyways…I pass…I’ll keep looking…

That’s hilarious that they actually put that in the ad! (BTW, do you know why it’s called “riding shot gun”? Because back in the Wild West days of the US, bandits used to rob stagecoaches pretty easily, so drivers used to have a person sit next to them with a shot gun to keep an eye out for the bandits. They were the protection! There’s your trivia tidbit for the day.)

Every time we go out, my boys have to compete to see who can call “shotgun” first. And now Kaitlyn, who is two, yells “dotdun” when we leave the house!
And that job? Yeah. It’s probably delivering Schwan’s frozen food or Kirby vacuum cleaners or those Omaha steaks. I’d pass
Merry Christmas, Tina!!
